Membership
Experience has shown us that the following conditions for membership provide a fair and good basis. If you wish to apply for membership, you will be required to stay for a minimum of 6 weeks as a sponsored guest before the Community invites you to apply for prospective membership at our fortnightly meeting.
Your acceptance is subject to a 90% vote of the members. (Please note our membership numbers are governed by various factors). If accepted as a prospective member, you will be required to stay with us for 12 months to familiarise yourself with community living and the current members.
In addition, you will need to organise your own accomodation. Membership is dependent on 90% of members accepting that the prospective member is in harmony with the overall vibration of Homeland'. The right to vote at meetings, choose a house site and build a dwelling begins after membership has been granted.
Homeland was originally purchased by way of donations and weekly contributions made by all previous and current members, prospective members and guests. Homeland adopted a legal structure in 1988 which involved the transfer of 'ownership' from the previous trustees to the new 'company' formed entirely of members living on the land and enshrined our aims & objectives in the Memorandum of Association.
In the legal sense, Homeland belongs to its resident members, who are responsible for its constitution, its environment and its future development. The land is shared in common and no one member has title to any portion.
The members, therefore, hold the land in trust for all future members and guests. Members do not profit from any money made or gifted to homeland. We are legally formed as a non-profit company.
Living on Homeland is an investment in life, not a financial investment. A Homeland home can only be sold to a current member.
