Hi and welcome to the Homeland Community.
We regard Homeland as a community of diverse people situated
amid lush subtropical rainforest, national parks and embraced by the
crystalline waters of the Bellinger River. The rugged escarpment of
the Dorrigo plateau, with its numerous waterfalls and misty, knife-edge
ridges, overlooks us in our place of paradise.
Homeland Community has operated for 29 years and exists today
for many and various reasons, growing from its philosophical birthplace
in New Age ideals and the wonder of the Findhorn Community in Scotland
to be moulded by all those who have come here, over the years, to help
in the care and stewardship of this land.
This dynamic evolution has contributed to make Homeland a unique
eco-village and alternative lifestyle workshop. Homeland offers guests
the opportunity to see first hand how people here, who have come from
all walks of life, have faced up to the challenges of living, as much
as possible, a self sufficient lifestyle.
Meeting their own individual needs and circumstances using
the principles and methods of permaculture, bio-dynamics and other natural
approaches to agriculture and horticulture; adopting the use of renewable
resources and natural energy systems, the residents of Homeland aim
to embrace natural wholeness and healthy living. Guests can experience,
attend and participate in community meetings, workdays and other seasonal
events.
