Traditionally, in isolated country areas, markets were held on a regular basis, allowing those from within the area to meet in a central location to sell their produce, display their wares,

be entertained & generally socialise with friends and acquaintances not often seen. In keeping with this tradition & moving with the times, Bellingen's Community Markets are held as much for its social & entertainment value as well as its commercial value.

Attracting stalls and visitors alike from all over Australia to its picturesque, tree studded surroundings in Bellingen Park on the 3rd Saturday of each month, the market offers visitors and locals alike a cross cultural view of the local community.

Started in 1980 with approximately 30 stalls, Bellingen's Community Markets are now one of the largest regional markets in Australia with 250 exciting diverse stalls.

As well as the wide and diverse range of goods available, Bellingen's Community Markets offers a selection of food stalls, live music, buskers and entertainment for the kids including camel rides, jumping castle, candle making and face painting making it an ideal day out for the whole family.

Bellingen's Community Markets has a nationwide and international reputation as being one of the most succesful, colourful and enjoyable markets to visit in Australia. The best advertising is that of word of mouth. Bellingen's Community Markets have achieved this with goodwill being spread around the state and beyond creating a positive economic base for the residents and businesses of the Bellingen Shire Community.
