Flooding
in Bellingen February 2009
After
a very dry January Bellingen was due to see some heavy rains.
And they arrived in the second week with some stations recording
over 500mm in 6 days - with over half of that in one 24 hour period.
This
weather station recorded over 558mm for the event - easily the
highest since the station opened in 2005. The resultant flooding
in Bellingen and along the Kalang was the highest since March
2001.
Below
are some of the images from the event:

Damage in Bellingen:

The flood dropped as quickly as it came up with
most roads open again the day after the flood. The number of landslips
was unusual however - with significant damage across the shire
including a large slip on the Dorrigo Mountain.
