Matthew Locke Memorial Rugby League Charity Match |
The Australian Army Rugby League team will play Bellingen Valley/Dorrigo Rugby League team in the now annual game played in memory of Sergeant Matthew Locke from Bellingen who was killed in action in 2007 whilst serving Australia in Afghanistan.
All proceeds on the day will go to designated charities nominated by the Locke family; The Grub Club, the Locke’s charity set up to aid education in Afghanistan and East Timor, Legacy charged with the task of caring for the widows and dependants of servicemen lost in conflict and the Bellingen Valley/Dorrigo Junior Rugby League Club.
As part of the fund raising activities we will be conducting raffles and an auction after the game. David Peachey, Wendell Sailor and Hazem El Masri will be attending with NBN providing plenty of coverage.

Both native and exotic orchids from clubs as far as Newcastle and Woodburn will be judged by qualified judges appointed from the NSW judging panel.
Sales table and members are available to answer questions relating to propagation, growing medium, watering and fertilising.

Toast Urunga |
Toast Urunga is our local community food, wine and music event attracting over 5000 people and now in its 4th year.
The weekend kicks off with a separately run black tie dinner dance on the Saturday evening. Sponsorship opportunities are available for this event. Please contact Lorraine Gordon on lgordon@shoal.net.au for details and table bookings.
Toast Urunga features music entertainment, cooking demonstrations, local community visual arts display, craft tables around town, and the Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour Vintage Car Clubs are also coming to visit. Kids have their own entertainment with a jumping castle, sand wizardry and face painting.
Around the town the local shops are open, there are craft tables all along the streets. As well, the

Bellingen Spring Plant Fair
|
Spring is an ideal time to make those additions to your home garden, orchard or farm!
The 20th Spring Plant Fair has over 60 nursery and garden-related stalls with an extensive variety of tropical and sub-tropical, native, exotic or food-bearing, trees, shrubs, herbs, seedlings, and garden equipment and supplies. Native Plant Identification Walks, Information stalls, Workshops and Activities hourly, and lots of expert horticultural advice available.
Fine food, Musicians, free entry, raffles, lots of bargains and the chance to win a barrow full of plants donated by the stallholders, make this a great day out for garden lovers.
The Spring Plant Fair is a fundraiser for the Bellingen Environment Centre and sponsored by the Bellingen Community Markets.

Bellingen Global Carnival |
The Carnival is an annual multi-arts festival celebrating Australian cultural
diversity. The event presents traditional, classical and contemporary concerts reflecting the diverse face of modern
day Australia. Workshops are held throughout the weekend as well as outdoor physical theater and the festival also includes
a children's program with professional child minding and a market arena providing delicious food & craft from around
the world.

AYO Wind Quintent |
Come and see the AYO Wind Quintent play a free concert at Bellingen High School Hall on Saturday the 4th of September at 2pm.
The AYO Regional Residences give selected musicians a unique opportunity to live the experience of a touring ensemble. In 2010, the AYO Wind Quintet will take up residency in Armidale, NSW. The musicians will be mentored by Geoffrey Collins, Principle Flute of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, and Andrew Bain, Principle Horn of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
