Enjoy a relaxing family friendly afternoon listening to live country music on the banks of the beautiful Kalang River.

 

The music will start at 4pm Pack a picnic and a rug or chair to sit on, make your way to the Morgo Street Reserve at Urunga, then sit back, relax and enjoy the entertainment!

 

Urunga-Mylestom Chamber of Commerce thanks the many sponsors and volunteers that make this afternoon a feature of the January holiday period.

Camp Creative is a summer camp for families and individuals, a fun learning event where you mix with people of widely differing interests and ages in a relaxing and creative atmosphere.

 

To spend five days in an environment of creativity and encouragement and amongst young and old alike can be a very uplifting experience.

Taking place at Bellingen Council Grounds and Bellingen Memorial Hall, featuring market stalls, exhibits, jumping castle, horse rides, and other activities.

2012 February Sturday 25th   Matthew Locke Memorial Rugby League Charity Match

The 4th Army Thunder vs. Bellingen Magpies pre-season trial match. Raising money for Legacy, education and childrens organisations in the area. This year The Army Band will be performing. Entry Fee $5 for adults, pensioners gold coin, children under 15 are free.

Played in memory of Sgt. Matthew Locke, former Bellingen boy who was killed in Afghanistan.

2012 March TBA Market Park, Church Street Bellingen Autumn Plant Fair

Autumn is the ideal time to make those planting additions to your garden, orchard or farm!

 

The 22nd Bellingen Autumn Plant Fair at the Bellingen Market Park has over 60 Plant Nursery Stalls, with a huge variety of tropical and sub-tropical, native, exotic or food-bearing plants, garden supplies, and plenty of expert horticultural advice available.

 

Workshops, activities, information stalls from local organisations, fine food, musicians, free entry, lots of bargains and the chance to win a barrow full of plants donated by the stallholders, make this a great day out for garden lovers.

 

The Autumn Plant Fair is a fundraiser for the Bellingen Environment Centre and sponsored by the Bellingen Community Markets.

2012 March Friday 23rd - Sunday 25th 8.00am - 8.00pm Bellingen Readers and Writers Festival

The Bellingen Readers and Writers Festival will be held in venues along the spectacular Waterfall Way between the Coffs Coast and the ancient rainforests of Dorrigo (mostly in Bellingen).

 

The annual festival is a celebration of Australian writing in all its forms and will feature many established and emerging Australian writers including Robert Drewe, George Negus, Debra Adelaide, Michael Robotham, Leslie Cannold, Sophie Masson and many more.

 

Three days of events including readings, panels, forums and feasts, workshops, multimedia, theatre and spoken word performances will take place amidst the magnificent natural environs of the Bellinger River, Coffs Harbour and Dorrigo National Park.

2012 June Friday 8 - Monday 11   Bellingen Music Festival

The 2012 Bellingen Music Festival will be even bigger and more exciting, with a stellar line-up of performers over three big nights and two days.
At this stage we are expecting to bring feature Australia's internationally acclaimed vocal ensemble, The Song Company in two magical concerts. If you are a singer, sign up for their singing workshop to learn the secrets of their amazing harmony. A special workshop will be run at Bellingen High School for school students in the region.

Be excited by the dynamic sounds of the Melbourne Guitar Quartet and the Orava String Quartet, sponsored by Musica Viva. Soprano Shelli Hulbert will serenade you and, as always, the Bellinen Youth Orchestra will thrill and amaze you. And more. 


Ticket prices will be announced later in 2011. Discounts will be available for group bookings.

Bellingen Jazz & Blues Festival

The 22nd Bellingen celebration of Jazz is definitely back on August 19, 20 and 21. Any doubts are completely removed and it’s all systems go for this popular and enduring event.

 

The popular Manouche (Gypsy Swing) component will be a major feature of the 2011 event. Guitar maestro Paul Bulanyi (now a local) is the instigator of this captivating musical pot pouri.

Both native and exotic orchids from clubs as far as Newcastle and Woodburn will be judged by qualified judges appointed from the NSW judging panel.

 

Sales table and members are available to answer questions relating to propagation, growing medium, watering and fertilising.

2011 September Sunday 4th 10am - 4pm Toast Urunga

Toast Urunga is our local community food, wine and music event attracting over 5000 people.

 

The weekend kicks off with a separately run black tie dinner dance on the Saturday evening. Sponsorship opportunities are available for this event. Please contact Lorraine Gordon on lgordon@shoal.net.au for details and table bookings.

 

Toast Urunga features music entertainment, cooking demonstrations, local community visual arts display, craft tables around town, and the Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour Vintage Car Clubs are also coming to visit. Kids have their own entertainment with a jumping castle, sand wizardry and face painting.

The Carnival is an annual multi-arts festival celebrating Australian cultural diversity. The event presents traditional, classical and contemporary concerts reflecting the diverse face of modern day Australia. Workshops are held throughout the weekend as well as outdoor physical theater and the festival also includes a children's program with professional child minding and a market arena providing delicious food & craft from around the world.

2012 January Saturday 14th - Sunday 15th 9am - 5pm Arts Urunga Exhibition & Sale

The Urunga Mylestom Chamber of Commerce is kicking off the New Year with a unique artistic approach. It has invited seven visiting artists, who have studied and shown in Italy and France and who regularly paint together, to exhibit alongside eight of its very own professional artists from Urunga,
Mylestom and Raleigh on the 14th & 15th of January 2012.


The exhibition kicks off with a cocktail function open to art enthusiasts, locals
and visitors on Saturday the 14th of January at the Literary Institute Hall in
Bowra St, complete with string trio, complimentary drinks and canapés.
The Urunga Men's shed have been engaged to build the partitions which will display the art works.


Visiting artists include: Jakki Boucaut, Margi Duncan, Lee Dear, Max Jessop, Lance Boucaut, Sue Beacroft and Pamela Victoria-Thyssen.


Other local artists who have been asked to exhibit include: Bronwyn Rodden
from Valla Beach, Caroline Sharkey of Urunga, Gail Cardow of Newry Island,
Judy Bailey of Raleigh, Ruth Gollan of Mylestom, and Phillip Pomroy of Urunga.

2012 February Friday 10th   Broken Stone Records Roadshow - Artist Talks 

FREE ALL AGES MUSIC EVENT!
Broken Stone Records (BSR) is hitting the road in February for a 10 day east coast showcase tour, featuring live performances from Sister Jane, Caitlin Park, Magnetic Heads and The Maple Trail.

As part of the Roadshow, BSR is excited to announce that it will host artist talks on the theme of 'DIY recording and producing' in Bellingen. Musicians from great Sydney bands Sister Jane, Magnetic Heads, Caitlin Park and The Maple Trail will share their experiences in self-recording and production with audiences, providing an insight into the use of digital technology and techniques to self-produce music. 

This is a rare opportunity for musicians to find out more about the 'DIY' approach to recording and releasing music. This FREE ALL AGES discussion session will  be accompanied by a live acoustic performance.

Started in 2009, Local M.A.D.E. stands for Music. Arts. Dance. Extravaganza and Mentoring. and. Development. Experience.
